About our Specialists
Dental Implant Treatment is a surgical procedure. You want to ensure you have the very best care and that you have a doctor who has done thousands of dental implant cases not just one or two here and there.
The group of Doctors who comprise the Dental Specialist Network, have done more dental implant procedures in one month than most traditional dentists do in an entire year. Our focus is dental implant treatment.
All of our doctors are specialists in either surgery or implant restoration. It is necessary to have an experienced Surgeon to perform your surgery and a leading Prosthodontist to design your new smile. That’s what you’ll encounter with every specialist in the Dental Specialist Network.
A 2014 study by the American Dental Association suggests greater dental implant success rates when the procedure is performed by a dental specialist like an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon or Periodontist.
The types of specialists you’ll meet at your consultation:
A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the placement of dental implants and the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease. Periodontists are also experts in the treatment of oral inflammation. Periodontists receive extensive training, including three additional years of education beyond dental school. They are familiar with the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease, and are also trained in performing cosmetic periodontal procedures.
Periodontists often treat more problematic periodontal cases. They can also treat patients with severe gum problems using a range of surgical procedures. In addition, periodontists are specially trained in the placement, maintenance, and repair of dental implants.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons:
An Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon specializes in treating many diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaw and the hard and soft tissues of the mouth and Maxillofacial (jaw and face) region. It is an internationally recognized surgical specialty.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons have 4 to 6 years of additional education beyond dental school. They have specialized education and training in the complexities of the bone, skin, muscles and nerves involved, to ensure you get the best possible results.
Prosthodontists are dental specialists in the restoration and replacement of teeth. After completing four years of dental school, prosthodontists receive three additional years of specialized training in an American Dental Association (ADA) accredited graduate education program. Prosthodontics is one of the nine dental specialties recognized by the ADA.
Rigorous training and experience provide prosthodontists with a special understanding of the dynamics of a smile, the preservation of a healthy mouth and the creation of tooth replacements. Serving as the “architect” of a dental treatment plan, prosthodontists collaborate with surgical specialists and other health professionals to develop solutions to your dental concerns.
